Research
SOMT University of Physiotherapy is an academic institute that takes a leading role in clinically oriented research, by means of its unique configuration of multiple specializations within the field of physiotherapy.
Our research focuses on the mechanisms of origin of functional decline and intervention, with a positive perspective on health and a strong accent on the musculoskeletal system. The focus is on optimizing functional health, the methods with which physiotherapists can influence health in a significant way within their field of expertise, improving health from a complete bio-
psycho-social perspective, while taking optimal human function and quality of life into account.
SOMT University of Physiotherapy works closely with national and international universities, medical centers, government institutions and corporations in Amersfoort amongst others, to ensure the valorization of its’ scientific research. At SOMT University of Physiotherapy we conduct and support scientific research into the musculoskeletal system. Research is conducted by our own staff.
Research Strategy
The aim is that 70 to 80 % of scientific research of SOMT University of Physiotherapy should fall within the framework of the main research topic "functional decline". This main research topic responds to actual needs on prevention and treatment, with attention to recent social tendencies in health care.
