Dr. E. van Trijffel

Dr. Emiel van Trijffel is bij SOMT University of Physiotherapy sinds 2012 hoofd van het Masteronderwijs en hij is titularis Manuele Therapie aan de Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Na zijn klinische carrière als fysiotherapeut/manueeltherapeut heeft hij zich verdiept in het onderwijs en onderzoek van diagnostiek, klinisch redeneren, Evidence-Based Practice en complexiteit in gezondheid en ziekte. Hij was jarenlang als docent verbonden aan de opleiding tot klinisch epidemioloog in het AMC, die hij zelf in 2005 afrondde, en hij promoveerde in 2015 aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam op het proefschrift ‘Role and reliability of passive joint motion assessment: Towards multivariable diagnostics and decision-making in manual therapy’ o.l.v. zijn promotoren Prof. dr. Patrick Bossuyt, Prof. dr. Rob Oostendorp en Prof dr. Cees Lucas.

Momenteel is hij projectleider van het door SOMT University of Physiotherapy op te zetten grote cohortonderzoek (n=3000) naar voorspellende factoren voor kwetsbaarheid onder inwoners van Amersfoort ouder dan 55 jaar, de ‘AMersfoort COhort study on functional decline, Healthy ageing and Frailty (AMCOHF)’.  Daarnaast is hij als copromotor betrokken bij de promotietrajecten van zijn SOMT-collega’s drs. Renske Peters, drs. Astrid Vereijken en drs. Roel Wingbermühle en participeert hij in de BRUG-studie van SOMT University of Physiotherapy (hoofdonderzoeker dr. Hank Hallegraeff). Hij begeleidt diverse studenten van de universitaire master Manuele Therapie van de Vrije Universiteit Brussel en van de masteropleiding ‘Evidence Based Practice in Healthcare’ van het AMC bij hun afstudeeronderzoeken. Bij de Vrije Universiteit Brussel is hij lid van de onderzoeksgroep Experimentele Anatomie (voorzitter Prof. dr. Erik Cattrysse) en participeert hij in publicaties en onderzoeksprojecten samen met zijn vroegere promotor, emeritus hoogleraar Prof. dr. Rob Oostendorp (Radboud Universiteit en Vrije Universiteit Brussel).
